A tumblr blog I like

Hi Friends;
  I just wanted to send you off to a blog I found that I liked, if you so choose.  It is called genesis225...well, here:  http://genesis225.tumblr.com/   And what is Genesis 2:25:  "And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.". 
I've grown fond of nudist sites for a couple of reasons, but primarily because when I was young nudity was not accptable.  It was such an issue for most people, I guess, but the result was that people became ashamed of thier bodies, believing them something needing to be hidden.  This is an issue even for me today, one that I have spoken of before, and it just isn't the way God intended us to be at all.

Speaking to me from 50-years ago

When I was in college, my very limited exposure to Victor Frankl was most inspiring. He was a psychologist interred into Hitler's camps, and he spoke later about maintaining his positive view of humanity and himself. I was amazed that he could lift his face high, and even more so that he could view his captors and jailers as humans and not monsters.

We live in an age of retribution, demonization, and demoralization. We beat others down for their crimes and mistakes, seek to keep them down, and somehow find ourselves in the ditch right along with the ones we wish to derail. The recent issue of Anthony Weiner, a man with perhaps some issues but talented and capable in his profession, resigned today due to "the distraction" (the sexting) has caused his work and his party.

The simple fact of our life in this day is that the media dictate the reality. JFK is rumored to have numerous flings and other issues that would drive a current day newsroom into spontaneous orgasm for hours, and yet he is most known for his works and attempts, not his failures. Perfection is denied any and every man but perhaps one, and if these same reporters were to look so closely at their own life they would be ashamed to splash another's. Songs and anecdotes have cried the "there's no good news" for years, "it bleeds it leads", and other such so-called news.

I am as guilty or more than the next guy. I am often speaking ill when I should be lifting up, negative when I should be positive, pessimistic when should be optimistic. But, I'm learning.....

The Pennsylvania AGs office wants Jordan to admit to the murders if he is to have the case moved from adult court [to juvenile/family court] and Motto won't be ruling or listening to arguments on the matter until August (so it has been further delayed for no apparent reason).

What I've done is created a petition directed at the AGs office. I want to get as many signatures as possible to put pressure on them to move this case along and to refrain from doing things that violate Jordan's constitutional rights (like asking him to admit to a crime he says he did not do - it goes against his right not to self-incriminate).

Would you post a link to the petition and ask people to sign it? Also, would you mind signing it yourself? I plan to work as hard as i can to get signatures and then get this out to the AGs office before August to let them know people know what's going on and they don't like it.

... and the wisdom of our leaders?

Hi All;

One of the tenents that I have always believed is that, despite the pundits and cartoonists, our leaders are typically very intelligent. I may not always agree with thier methods or their end goals, but I always figured them to be very intelligent. They'd have to be, right?

Then we get a beauty queen. Until recently, I assumed it was an act. Nope. Anyone who ever puts this lady in charge of more than a Dairy Queen needs to lose their voting rights...at least.

What was worse, you know, outside of the obvious slanting of history in order to make a current political point about as subtle as a nuclear strike, was the blatant and obscene ignorance and obstinance to stick to the failed rendition of historical facts when interviewed on ....wait for it....Fox news (like you wouldn't have guessed). Even worse was her staffers going on to attempt a change to Wikipedia's Paul Revere page so to reflect Palin's assertion of history.

Either cry or laugh, folks. These are our leaders.....

I must admit, I'm rooting for this young man to win. I like the way he simply tells you what he has to say rather than try to be all over the stage.....it seems more heartfelt to me.

What makes a man

I always loved to watch Star Trek. I was a fan of Picard rather than Kirk, my apologies to the purists. One of the things I thought fascinating about the show was that it was the future, and while I knew that it was fictional, I also knew that people thought a great deal about how they would represent the future and I wanted to see it. I wanted to understand what we ought to be, in the grand ideal of these writers.

And, if one were to look at the manner in which Star Trek began, it really cut its teeth on controversy. Beginning with the bridge crew, there was a black woman in a leadership role, a Russian and an Oriental, there was a Vulcan....whatever that was, and he was second in command. And venturing further, Kirk sought to have relations with every woman he could.

Still, I liked Picard. He was intense, intelligent, and in control. And yet, this is not why I'm writing tonight. I am writing about another wonderful bit of future fantasy mirroring our present day.....and wondering why so many fingers can point and still some don't see.

So, Data wants to be a man. And, what is it that makes one a man? What steps, what thoughts, what actions? What? For, if we actually just go on our initial reaction, Data is, of course, not a man. He is but mere machinery, right? Isn't it just simple to presume that as he is not like us, obviously quite different in fact and deed, that he is not a man. He therefore has less rights, less allowances, less merit to that which is the man's perogative. He surely is no man....or is he?

Does a man only have "white" skin? Is then a man only from a certain country, a certain neighborhood? How about a man only having one philosophy, one religion? Is a man only allowed to have a woman for a lover, then? What must one be to be free, to be a man worthy of the rights and privileges - and even responsibilities?

I am so proud to look back on episodes like this that challenge us into thinking. For, if we can root for Data, then we can open our eyes - as a nation - and hear the arguments for what they are: self-serving rationalisms geared only to maintain a status and an ego. Wouldn't that be just so wonderful if we could find that same cauldron to burn away prejudice, presumption, pride and leave us with truth and understanding?
