How does one tell a hungry child "I can't feed you because I have to give tax breaks to the wealthiest"?
Hello Randy They wouldn't care in the slightest about any such explanation. Greed, for those people, is its own justification. The rest of us could all die of starvation, and they wouldn't care less. I don't think words exist that could accurately convey my contempt.
Hi Sammy; It's sad, but I think you hit it on the head. Some see their good fortune as deserved and another's bad fortune as just as deserved, no matter how either came to their position. I was speaking with my Dad's friend this weekend and he told me how some in his family were sent to live with relatives because there simply was no way to feed them, despite living on a farm. He's 70. Now, that wasn't yesterday, but it wasn't all that long ago either. I fear that our society will forget the history, and as you say the greedy will take away the protections.
Hallo Randy, I mean, this applies more or less to all governments today. Unless governments are just puppets of the business leaders and the people tolerated all this, nothing will change. But - how long? The economy needs growth - for this they need the plebs who pump their last toads into consumption. Gruß Nikki
I wondered at your comment.. the economy needs growth. I wonder, at what cost? I'm not a finance person. I understand work hard, pay bills, sleep dry. I don't get world markets, etc. I do think you are right, though, that corporations are coming to be powerful entities who control far too much. hugs; randy

I meant this sarcastically. At us, only counts economic growth - economic growth - economic growth! No matter what you say against it - just growth - growth! Therefore, I act opposed. I act in "Abstaining from consumption" Gruß Nikki
Hi Nikki; While I got that you were being somewhat sarcastic, I didn't fully understand what you meant earlier. I guess I have felt a bit alone in this. Most of the people I know like the "new" and "shiney" stuff... and I do too. But, I do begin to wonder if I'm not becoming more and more a slave to the products I don't really need. I bought my parents house when they retired and moved. It seemed easier than moving them... wow did they have a lot of stuff! My mother, over the years, collected an untold number of baskets and knick-knacks, and each represents a cost... Dad did similar in tools and, well, stuff! I don't know what to do with the stuff they left! More and more is ending up in trash/recycle. I can't afford stuff. I need to focus on essentials, like heat, electric, fuel, food, internet!!!... yet even still, I feel like I am trapped into buying things, stuff, all too often. Well, I like what you say... I need to abstain a bit. hugs
