Hi Friends;
I just wanted to bring you up to date on my decision regarding the rumor of abuse to the stray cat showing up at work.... I wrote a small sign and posted it on the front board near the time cards, it said: "Be Kind to Small Animals. The small kindnesses you do for them has big effects upon their lives, and the small meanness you do to them shows just how very very small you can be". I did it in a poster format, boxed and with stylized printing. Then, I made numerous copies.... It's been ripped down by said maintenance man 4 times now...and reposted each time by me and others.
Conversation has started and some who were not favorable towards the cat ...which is fine, not everyone is a cat lover .... have seen how very small, in fact, such an act of mean-ness it is to kick or otherwise hurt a small animal. So, success - even if a bit limited.
12/16/11 -- a quick edit update: Kitty showed up last night. Seems no worse for the reported wear, and even allowed me to pick it up and put it back outside. I did put up a box bed for it.... :)

hello Randy. That is wonderful. I have not had much time to get back to you on this guy and his actions. At the hospital we have a stray cat who lives under one of the maintenance trucks. Right where we all walk to go into the employee entrance. It is a well looking feline. Boy or girl I don't know, but it is fed well, several times a day and I think food is sneaked out during other times. I don't know if anyone has thought to be mean , but it has been well put out that the hospital management wont tolerate that in any way. Everyone says hello going in and out to the cat. It sits in the shade under the truck like a royal. but no one would harm it, they would be lynched and then management would tear them up. Nice to know we have that understanding.
I was wondering if anyone in the animal rescue group you were part of would like a little friend for home. It is hard for a small animal to brave the cold.
Hugs
Hi Scottie;
I can imagine that in your field, being petty and mean to those smaller and weaker is a true clarion for disaster. Well, it is anywhere.
I truly hope this guy learns from this and grows. He needs to, like most of us in some form or fashion. I think he got kicked a lot growing up and needs to let that go before the hate kills him.
hugs;
randy.
oh...and I will check with the strays org. to see if they can help the situation. At first, I wasn't sure if this was a neighborhood animal, but her actions of late would indicate she is homeless and needs help.
