Looking beyond the navel...

Hello Friends;

  I just recently watched and read this:  http://recall-all-republicans.tumblr.com/post/79330159949/quickhits-foxs-varney-angry-that-states-arent Basically, it is another piece of Fox hating the poor.  Near that, I read a bit about the support of a firm stand against Russia/Putin for the invasion of another country.  Got me thinking...

  Some time ago, I remember seeing a little thing about voting for wars.  The basic tenant of the idea is that if a person votes for war, then they also commit to putting on boots, taking up a gun, going to war.  Now, not so sure how I agree or not about that.. but, the idea of personal integrity, of saying that one's vote for something is not simply a philosophical or mental expression but a whole person commitment?  That seems a good idea.
  Now, back to this article above.  Did you watch the vid?  Read the article?  I thought about a few things as I watched that, and one of those things... among a few ideas of how very dangerous a man is who must sit and watch his children go hungry, how difficult it is to feed a family on the wages from a 40 hour job, that republicans sure seem like a greedy little pack of shits... is a flash back to that idea about voting for war.  So, here's the big question:  What would the world look like if a community were to take responsibility for their neighbors to ensure that they had positive work, food, heat in the winter, ac in the summer?  What would this world look like if we were more concerned with giving our children the best education possible, that they were fed to grow, and that they were happy?   What would this world look like if we wanted to be sure that people were healthy?
  Would we be so concerned with the oil fields a half world away?  Would we spend billions upon billions killing people we don't know and watching those we do know languish in poverty?

There was once a Great Man who told people to " Love Thy Neighbor ".    Yet, far too often, we find a certain portion of our people, many of who purport to follow that first man, actually following the one who declared that the path to power and riches is to exploit thy neighbor..... I think his name was Hitler.

Incredibly awesome post, Randy. I am totally stunned. I was unable to watch the video, it wouldn't play on my laptop, but I got the idea of what they were saying. I just don't understand how those who have, can then deny what they have to others that need so desperately.

Thanks Randy, for again reminding us that we ARE our brothers keeper and we are all connected somehow. Hugs

Hi Randy, thinking your last sentence over, Hitlers ideology was for the German people of course, but it was widespread among amaricas white tycoons because of its anti-communist stand. ... and because of its antijewish stand.
A lot of the rich americans in the tweentieth and thirties of the last century envied the Rich jews for their wealth and their influence on Wallstreet.
Thinking a step further: There is a congruence of Hitlers Society and the society, the rich Republicans and who they stand for, - are aiming for the US- society. Factorie-managements and their owners, don't like any sort of rights for t h e i r employees. This was Hitlers aim too: But he reached that by the propaganda: one Rich, one leader, one Fatherland --- and by the GermanSecretService (gestapo)of course.
Hitler also hated the Homosexuals, althouth he was one himself.
So it is not too wrong to compare Hitlers Idiologie with the Republican ideology, both are directed at exploiting everyone, who can be exploited.
And in my opinion it is even justified, to compare the Republican ideology with other dictatorships - including the Chinese government. which is a conglomerat of the Richest chinese.

Hi Scottie;
The general thing about the vid... this guy was bitching because the states were able to sign people up for food stamps who qualified for heating assistance. He thought that completely unfair, an end-around a just law that would decrease the deficit.
Now, it was made quite clear that these who were able to sign up via the heating assistance were not double dipping, getting extra over and above allotment. No... they were just people who in the fifth worst winter on record.. at least in Michigan.. needed help with heat and food. And, this jerk thought that unfair.
I think we are simply way off kilter on our priorities. Way off kilter. You don't tell a starving man that he can't feed his family because the government needs to trim their budget a bit!!!!

hugs and loves.

Hi Miles;
I'm so glad to hear from you. I was really nervous that my comparison of the way Hitler exploited folks with the way the republicans seem focused on their abuses would be a poor choice.
It's crazy that such smart people still can't seem to learn from past mistakes.
